The Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church in Varenne-l'Arconce has reopened its doors after major restoration work, which was celebrated at the inauguration ceremony attended by numerous officials and local residents.

After more than two years of work, the Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church in Varenne-L'Arconce is reopening its doors. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1889, this major Romanesque building in the Brionnais region has undergone a complete restoration of its interior, from floor to ceiling: consolidation of cracked domes, treatment of chronic damp, and enhancement of the historical decorations and works of art.

The €1.3 million project was led by Frédéric Didier, chief architect of historic monuments, with the assistance of the firm 2BDM. The approach sought to restore the church to its timeless splendor, revealing both its Romanesque heritage and its more recent additions.

Supported by the Heritage Lottery, the Heritage Foundation, and numerous institutional partners and patrons, this project is an example of exemplary restoration, combining structural preservation with artistic enhancement.
