The stained glass windows of Sainte-Chapelle, masterpieces from the 13th century, have been undergoing a new restoration campaign since February 2025, led by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. The project draws on the expertise of Christophe Batard, chief architect of Historic Monuments at the 2BDM agency, who is responsible for preserving the delicate balance between light and color created by medieval master glassmakers.
In specialized workshops, restorers and master glassmakers work meticulously on the Bay of Ezekiel, carefully assessing each intervention to preserve the original harmony. This iconic project, supported by private sponsorship, illustrates the rigor and expertise required to preserve a unique heritage, a veritable "glass book" built under Saint Louis.
