Schuman-Perret High School in Le Havre is launching a new educational project focused on the restoration of the architectural heritage of the city center, which was rebuilt by Auguste Perret. An agreement between the City of Le Havre, the architectural firm 2BDM, and the school will enable students to participate in the upcoming restoration campaign for the Perret facades.
Led in particular by Martin Mallard, an architect specializing in historic monuments, this partnership aims to raise awareness among young people about the challenges of preserving modern heritage and the unique characteristics of the concrete used in Perret’s architecture.
During the 2026–2027 school year, approximately forty students from general, technical, and vocational programs will participate in various activities: meetings with restoration professionals, site visits, reading blueprints, and studying the technical and thermal properties of concrete.
The project also includes the restoration of a listed facade of the high school, using an approach inspired by the methods applied to Perret buildings in Le Havre’s city center.
