A diagnosis carried out in 2017 revealed the urgent need to intervene on several weakened parts. The first phase of the work, scheduled between 2025 and 2027, will mainly concern the chevet: stabilization of the chapels, restoration of the ambulatory, and refurbishment of the exterior facades.
The project, which is expected to take nearly a decade and cost between €12 million and €15 million, will be carried out in several successive stages. While the first phase has already been planned, the subsequent phases will aim to ensure the complete restoration of the building.
On the project management side, the project is led by Thomas Clouet, chief architect of historic monuments and partner at the 2BDM agency.
Beyond preserving the building, this restoration is part of a broader effort to promote cultural heritage. The municipality wants to make this anniversary a memorable and festive occasion, placing the collegiate church back at the heart of life in Montereau.
